Kids dont want to go uo to board to solve. "Thats fine, you come up. ill help and tell you what to write." Then i basically walk them through, ok step 1 we need to do X because of Y. Do you know what i mean? No? ok just write .... Ok see how you wrote that, we wrote that because. Ok any guess next step? Basically. i usually take those students who dont want to do their work, im nice ans friendly, and i have them solve with me on the board. Especially the outgoing kids who arent shy, but just lost. It helps everyone, not just that kid. Im overly positive. Praise. Help them a ton. Usually i have dumb prizes i give them afterward. Then when they finish and sit down i got unlimited volunteers willing. I am a complete sarcastic ahole most the time, but abaolutely also (i like to think) like a schizophrenic one of the most positive supportive teachers i know. the kids enjoy it.
