She’s the one man. ❤️
Short backstory: when my wife and I first met, I found out she had never seen Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings. So I told her she HAD to pick one we could watch together. She didn’t like that the LotR movies were so long, so she opted for the Star Wars movies. She liked them, but nothing super special (she loved C3P0 and R2-D2 the best). Fast forward 2 years of dating, 1 year engaged, 6 years of marriage and 2 kids, she says she might be willing to watch the trilogy since she’s heard so many good things about it (we are also religious, and the fact that the series was written with some religious undertones intrigued her). We took a full week to watch them (working around my work schedule, and kids bedtimes) and watched the Theatrical versions of the movies.
After watching the Return of the King, she had a takeaway that was close to how she reacted at the end of Avengers: Endgame. She was teary-eyed, crying, talking about the movies and the characters and all that we had gone through. The brotherhood of Aragon, Legolas and Gimli, the battles, Frodo and Sam fighting to destroy the one ring, Pippin and Merry being a chaotic and silly duo, The wisdom of Gandalf, and the betrayal of Sauron. She gushed over how good they were and how happy she was that she had seen them. She talked about the movies for TWO WEEKS, and even said she’d be willing to watch the extended versions. My wife. Who originally hated the idea of a long movie, is now willing to watch these movies again, with an additional hour per each movie!
