Everything you see around you is human intervention in nature. It is what it is. If it wasn't our species it would be a different one. Wild animals left to their own devices can destroy the environment as well.

the fearmongering managed to sell a couple of documentaries and a movie - but eventually the killer bees took over the southern US and while they do kill more people it isnt enough people to sustain the marketing theyre basically the default bee for brazil - they have to put the fences farther away if they need a milder hive then they just kill and replace the queen with a european one just like theyve been doing for centuries
They are an issue. They are insanely aggressive and I got stung several tomes by them through a bee suit once and had to drive miles away in a truck bed while a hive of bees was chasing me. Had to wait an hour then drive back and do a drive by spraying with poison
To be fair, they are very much still an issue in my area. About once a year someone steps into a nest they didn’t know was there and requires intense medical attention or sometimes even dies.

Killer bees weren't created. They were African bees unintentionally released while trying to crossbreed the Brazilian and African bees..

When I was a kid in the '80s I honestly believe that every bee was a killer bee, because of the hysteria around them. But I don't think I've actually read a single word about them in the last 20 years. Panicky media gonna panic, I guess.

Title is misleading. Killer bees weren't intentionally created. The intention was to create bees that made more honey, and killer bees were the accidental result.
The species in question was created intentionally. Their behaviour was not the intended result. They weren't called killer bees at first either. But that is the name they came to be known by because of their behaviour. See how catchy that would be as a headline? You're choosing to ignore the original point in the pursuit of semantics and pedantry. If you're that particular, perhaps it would be better to write the headline you'd prefer to see rather than just say "This is wrong and here's why". Something like "Killer bees were the unfortunate result of an attempt to create honey bees that could tolerate warmer climates" And again, that's not great. Which is why they chose something more concise.
He has started breeding them before the starting of the program and also concluded that the two bee species would not meet his objective without years and several generations of selective breeding. Which is why he switched to stingless bees. He did have some success with Italian African bees though. But the result was the same either way. To say they weren't intentionally created is to say it never happened. They were intentionally created, they just did not meet his objective, and a accident happened to occur causing them to escape and breed with local bee populations which ultimately made the same bees anyway.
