Is it bad? Nephews birthday

My nephew is turning 2 in a couple of days. My husband and I get him for two weeks probably a month. He has his own bed here and everything. On Facebook market place I found a bunch of fun stuff like a slide, a balance bike (for toddlers), and fun outdoor stuff and I really want to get a bunch of these things for him for his birthday? But, I feel like the worst aunt in the world for thinking about getting him used stuff for his birthday and not new. But, it would be a fortune to get new of those things.

That’s totally fine, I’d just make sure those things look really clean and as new as possible (but that’s more for the other adults, kiddo will love them either way).

They're new to him! My daughter is 2 and is always thrilled to get "used" toys! She might care when she's older, but for now she loves them!

With my kid, I could get him a bag of crumpled tinfoil and plastic spoons and it’d be the most amazing thing ever, so I don’t think you have to worry about how a second hand slide or bike will be received, he’s probably going to lose his mind!

Please don't get them brand new things that they will grow out of. Make sure they're safe but if they are, buy used toys/clothes/anything. There's enough "stuff" in this world already.

I get almost all toys on marketplace now. Saves money, I’m not buying more stuff to end up in the dumpster, and my daughter has no idea.

Nah kids outgrow stuff so fast. Just give it a good scrub and have it setup for him, toddlers don't know if something is used or new lol.

I buy my own child used things. I buy other children in my life used items. Especially books. As long as they aren’t on their last legs… I believe it’s perfectly acceptable. I mean honestly I thrift not even because of money but because we don’t always need something brand new.

Take the guilt feelings and throw them directly in the trash. Used stuff is great. My 2.5yo has so many big and small used items that are beat to hell that he adores. Kids (especially that young) do not care AT ALL.

It's going to be new *to him* and that makes it exciting. At that age, they dont think of things as new or used yet. Buy used, I try and get my wife to when I can.

For my son’s 2nd birthday I told his aunts to thrift everything! If it’s clean and still works, there’s no reason we need anything brand new. All of his favorite toys are second hand!

I love buying used things for my two year-old! It’s so true. They do grow out of these things so quickly it just makes more sense to buy things used. I buy used toys clothes and I do years old. They don’t know the difference. They’ll just be so excited to see the toys go for it. It’s such a nice idea and so fun and I totally agree. You can get more stuff and better stuff and often even more high-quality stuff when you buy used.

Mom of an almost 2 year old here! Kids actually use toys for such a short amount of time. Buy used, then resell for another kid to use when he outgrows it!

leave the guilt. GET THE ITEMS, The kid will use these for probably 2 years max and then grow out of it. Save money, buy used, help a parent out.
