How many rewatches of the same film would you say are too many?

I’m a chronic film rewatcher, so I’d say that the limit doesn’t exist. However after some very recent conversations and some very funny looks after mentioning my 13th rewatch of challengers, I’m starting to rethink that idea!

Unsure what anybody else thinks the limit for too many is as I kind of think “the more the merrier” 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

  Also the reasons, if its being watched because someone's obsessed with an actor then it can be a bit creepy but if its a kid who just really fucking likes the lion king then thats cool

  I watched the same Rosanne Barr movie every single day for two months when I was 17. Much as it was probably a proxy for therapy, I now believe any number of watches is probably too many for a Roseanne Barr movie

I could watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies every single weekend. If you love the movie and you feel good after watching it. There is no such thing as too many times. That's my opinion. Watch away, my friend.

I re-watch LOTR and Hobbit extended editions 3 times a year. Every year. Have done since they came out. Never enough! Same goes for a few other films - Dog Soldiers, Howl, Da Vinci series...

If you watch something more than once or twice in a week I think it’s polite to do it on your phone, with headphones (assuming you live with other people). Lifetime? No limit. Weekly, I’m not sure there needs to be a limit either. I used to cope with breakups and depression by watching the same movie over and over. After my last relationship ended, the question to ask me wasn’t “How are you doing?” it was “How many times have you watched *Hamilton* this week?” But like I said, headphones.

oh god, Ive watched top gun maverick like 20 times, including 5 times at the cinema, every 6 months I give interstellar another rattle. When I need cheered up I watch American pie.

  I have watched Top Gun the original over 100 times, I know it word for word. It came out on video release at a time when my Mum would make me iron my own clothes. I would watch it every time I did the ironing whilst I lived at home with my parents. I have the leather jacket and Rayban Rb3025 sunglasses.

I've really been struggling watching the same film multiple times. I've probably watched: \- Back to the Future four times since it came out \- Back to the Future 2 three times \- The Apartment probably four times but four, I think, is a maximum maybe \- It's a Wonderful Life may be five times There are big gaps between them. I just don't get watching something over and over and over again. I don't know why but nor do I understand how other people do it

I've lost count of the number of times I've watched "Blade Runner" & "Blues Brothers". Back in the mid-80s me & a mate used to watch "Blazing Saddles" every week after weds been on the lash. I could literally quote the film word-for-word

I've watched "Drive" a ridiculous amount of times since I first saw it year before last. I just can't get bored of it. Absolutely love the soundtrack and it was the first film I watched with Ryan Gosling in it.

Who cares what other people think? There’s some movies I watch multiple times per month. When Sinners came out on 4K, I watched it three times in a day. I almost always have a film on when I work so there’s some movies I’m watching (or listening to) 15 times a month.

For most films I cannot re-watch it as I know whats going to happen and that ruins it for me. Similar to games.. There are however a few films I have re-watched alot. I love the starship troopers film and have re-watched that a fair few times. I have re-watched the first 6 starwars films most years for aslong as I can remeber. When I was a kid I often stayed at my Grans house and Honestly cannout count how many times I watched the 2003 Johnny English film as she had it on DVD and when It would shut me up for an hour or so. Same with the first chicken run film.

Entirely depends on how often you are rewatching. Once a year? I would say that's perfectly normal. Plenty of people have a tradition of watching a particular film at a particular time or year, or mark an occasion. Once a month? Fine I guess if you enjoy it, find it relaxing, or whatever. Once a week? I mean... Same as above I guess, but feel like that is too often. Once a day? To me that would either be a sign of insanity or memory loss.

I've sent Aliens well over 50 times and will quite happily watch it many more times. Ice Cubes War Of The Worlds not so much. It's all about the quality.

When I was younger, I rewatched films alot--saw Star Wars, Toy Story, Back to the Future etc so many times. But now as an adult, I very rarely do. I might sometimes rewatch one I loved as a kid. But if I see a film at the cinema or whatever, I know that is likely to be the last time I watch it. Even films I come away from enjoying, I can't think of any that are rewatchable. Like, this year, I really enjoyed Project Hail Mary, but I just can't see myself ever rewatching it. Same is true of video games really... as a Kid, I replayed them alot. As an adult, the only game in the last 10-15 years I replayed was The Last of Us.

There are very few films that I've ever felt any desire to rewatch, but I'm not really a film person and tend to find them a bit boring in general But if you're not like me and really enjoy watching films, who cares how many times you rewatch something? Return to it as many times as you want for as long as you find it enjoyable

I’ve watched Harry Potter… a lot. All of them, but specifically 1 & 3 because they can pull me back from whatever edge I’m tilting over at the time. Recently because of the hot weather, I’ve watched either 1,3 or 4 every day. (They wouldn’t count as full watches, but I also put one on the fall asleep to when I’m struggling, and also if I get nightmares I’ll put one on when I wake up) I’m sure I’ve racked up a lot on the 2005 Pride and Prejudice too.

When I was a kid I used to go to my Grandparents after school. They only had two VHS tapes that were suitable for me to watch. Therefore I don't even know how many times I've seen The Muppets Christmas Carol. I watched it at least twice a week every week for a long time 🤣 I now watch it when I do my Christmas wrapping and I still know every word.

  When my stepson was little he liked that movie, and started singing Let It Go. But only ever the line "let it go" on repeat. Over and over and over with the same monotone voice. Lovely kid but my gods that was annoying.

Back when few people owned films because VHS tapes weren't generally sold and had to be acquired when video shops sold off excess stock, we watched certain films on repeat because they were the only ones we had. So I've seen Dirty Dancing and the Lost Boys at least 60 times each. Though eventually they were more musical wallpaper than anything we focused on (except for certain scenes). Not sure I've watched anything more than twice since, except Labyrinth because one kid got obsessed with it.

There is no too many. We rewatch both Jaws and The Taking Of Pelham 123 at least yearly, sometimes more. This is of course unless you have a small ND child who insists on watching The Jungle Book three times a day every day for 18 months.

If you are watching on your own then if you feel like watching it again you didn't find your too many. If you are subjecting the rest of the household to it too then that number might be different. If you are 4 then the there is now limit. I still don't forgive my eldest for the amountof tkmes i have had to watch Barbie Princess Charm School. (It isn't actually as bad as it sounds the FIRST time you are subjected to it. But once was definitely enough 😂)

I rewatch the same films and TV shows a lot, I take comfort.in the predictability. The only limit would be if you personally get sick of it.

I had a spell off work recently and had to discipline myself to *not* just rewatch favourites. That pays off when it's things like *Warfare* and does not payoff when it's things like *Absolon*, which I used as a recalibration in case I forgot how shut movies can be. Daily might be too many. Might.

I genuinely couldn't tell you how many times I've watched The Lord of the Rings films. Very likely it's over 100 times. I've seen all three in the cinema at least 3 times. I've seen it at The Royal Albert Hall with a live Orchestra and Choir. There is no such thing as too many times if you really love something.
