Post by EducationalGur6420 -- Salam. I am Punjabi from Pakistan. Posting for a friend who wants out.
Age and sex: 20s, woman. Citizenship / origin: Afghan family origin. Born and raised in Pakistan. Never been to Afghanistan. Current location: Pakistan. Target: Canada (open to other safe countries if Canada is not realistic). Education / work: student age, education is the priority because Afghanistan would end schooling for her.
Situation: In Pakistan the national ID is a CNIC issued by NADRA. Without it you cannot keep a phone SIM, use a bank account properly, rent, study, or travel legally.
Her father got Pakistani citizenship in the 80s. NADRA rejects that paperwork now. During the recent Afghan deportation drive their family CNICs were cancelled. She has no usable identity left.
Afghanistan is not safe for her as a woman. School would stop. Rights shrink to almost none.
Going to a NADRA office to fix papers is risky because raids happen and people get deported on the spot.
Questions:
- With cancelled CNIC and no passport path, what Canada pathways are even possible from overseas?
- Does UNHCR or any resettlement route apply when someone is born in Pakistan but treated as Afghan and identity less?
- Is restoring Pakistani citizenship through a lawyer first the only realistic step before any visa country?
Not looking for anything illegal. Only real options. Thanks.
