Use or not use 1060

So im using multiple devices in the home and basically getting to point of running my own first homelab. I have an old pc laying around that i intend on using with an old i5 not sure which one i forgot and then a 1060 6gb and then 16gb of ddr4 at 3200. Should i just strip the 1060 as to not use too much power or should i just get a mini pc over the actual pc i have? Thank you kindly
