Hey everyone, this is my first double sided knit project.
I started this scarf a few weeks ago and had some ups and downs with it, the last 20-30 rows show where I finally „got it“ using a knitting thimble (never thought I‘d be using one but here I am) because I think the tension is pretty neat, the edge is consistent and at least the single colored parts of the scarf are actually two individual pieces, not tangled at all. In the beginning I somehow twisted the yarns the wrong way and ended up with a very sturdy seabass down there. The color changes still seem connected to each other up top so I can‘t pull the two layers apart completely, but I guess that‘s how you do it??
Anyway I just noticed that I left out a row by accident right where the leaf is, the pattern says the stem should be 2 stitches tall, not just one.
I‘m kinda devastated, because on the one side I really don‘t want to undo all my progress, frogging sucks!! But on the other hand I would be able to restart with better tension and a cleaner look overall since I have more knowledge about this technique now, and I‘m also a perfectionist so the thought of a missing row will haunt me forever, even if nobody knows about it except me. Also the pattern is now switched too and I’m afraid it might lead me to get confused following through the pattern. What would you do?

Personally, I think you have done fantastic work and should not frog. I think you could duplicate stitch it in on both sides after. Keep moving forward with the fantastic work!

Don't frog right away. Cast on with two new balls of yarn and restart the project. Seeing the new version come out so much neater and better often makes frogging a lot less painful. And if you realise early on it doesn't really get that much better you can still go back and keep knitting the one with all the progress.
Love this idea! Unfortunately I only have two spools for my yarn holder and I will definitely not knit without it, I haven‘t had the hustle of twisting yarns since working with this thing but you can‘t buy single spools. But you‘re right, looking at the new neater version eases the pain of frogging :D
Leaf? I don't recognize a leaf but neither can I see a missing stitch. Everything looks great to me. If that is the only consequence of the missing row, then don't frog it. This is one of those times when only you know there was a error. You might not even notice or remember it yourself in a few weeks or months. Keep working forward you're making great progress.
The leaf is the shape above the balloon, it’s a logo from the game this design is featuring. I understand how you feel but I agree, would not frog. You could duplicate stitch the missing leaf stem if you really wanted to but I would leave it.

My first double knitting project was also a scarf, a star wars scarf. You can definitely see a progression in how good I was at it in the beginning and at the end. I personally love that. I wouldn't frog this, I think it's beautiful

I’m in the same predicament - I am doing the Hero of Generations scarf, and I definitely messed up a couple of rows between row 1 - 50 before it kinda “clicked” for me. However, I know nobody will notice once I am wearing the scarf, so I would not frog. Sure it annoys me a bit looking at the master sword looking a bit lopsided, but once it is done, nobody will notice. I didn’t notice your mistakes before you pointed them out since I haven’t tried to knit this scarf.
Yeah that sounds reasonable. I hope once it‘s blocked everything wonky will even out and the ✨ happy little accidents ✨ make it special!
I’m not even seeing where the problem is so I think it’s fine. As others have said you can duplicate-stitch it on if it’s bothering you. The whole point of double knitting is that you can’t separate the layers.

Yeah I see that you need to twist the yarn at the edges so the two fabrics don‘t separate, but before I started I thought you would create two separate wobbly pieces of fabric that only hold onto each other at the edges (if that‘s understandable) like with floats in between, but now that I‘ve knit and thought about it I see that I was totally wrong here 😅
Please, I understand the perfection gremlin. I understand it so well, but this looks almost perfect, especially from any reasonable distance don’t do it. Finish this and do something else and it’ll be even better and that’s the curse and blessing of art everything you make is better than the last time so you always know that you’re making it worse than you could do. It’s better to finish something.

consider washing and blocking what you've made so far, with the needle in and all. The tension may not be as noticeable then and it might make the decision easier
