Honestly, druid circle of the stars is a great healer
As the title says:
Which subclass/class for you enjoy the moment to fill the role of provided healing? Do you prefer to cut it tight with optimization by healing JUST ENOUGH with a Paladin? Or do you prefer to safety provided by life cleric?
As for me, I have fallen in love with Way of Mercy Monk. The idea of the monk Flurry of Blowsing your party member to get them healed up is just hilarious and on a more serious note, i love the feel and vibe of them
Honestly, druid circle of the stars is a great healer
I love Bards in general. Currently, I'm playing a Spirits Bard which has as main Healing Life Transference and uses Vampiric Touch to heal back, mantaining concentration with High Con+War Caster
My favorite healer is the Grave Cleric, because it has my favorite play style of Controller and only wants to heal people when they actually go down.
Grave clerics are actually goated
Necromancer, i always prefer my teammates attitudes after i heal them. They talk back less and always follow my directions
After all, a necromancer is just a medic with lousy timing!
Healing isnt really needed. But Battlesmith with Aura of Vitality can make an Enspelled Staff of it in 12.5 days with help. Or anyone with Dragonmark of Healing / Hospitality + Potent Dragonmark Or a Druid / Ranger sleep casting Goodberry so they have 100+ for the next day.
Giant sacks of goodberries is top tier druiding
Light cleric is great. I’m playing in a game where me and the artificer are the only spellcasters so the fact that I get a huge aoe at level 2, fireball at level 5 means I’m doing heavy damage and pulling my weight in combat
If I'm making a dedicated "healer" character, my favorite pick by far is Divine Soul Sorcerer. Especially as an Aasimar. If I wanted to do something that wasn't charisma based, I would probably go Stars or Dreams druid.
Of all of the ones, I've I'd say Celestial Warlock...but this is my 2nd campaign ever and I don't remember the first, so that might not be too helpful. I'm enjoying it a lot though!
Celestial Warlock. I really like the Healing Light ability, ranged bonus action heal that doesn't count as a spell. Also liked having access to Cure Wounds on a Warlock. I took Pact of the Chain and could use my Imp to cast Cure Wounds at range as well.
I love my twilight cleric. Consistently gives out temp hp and has decent damage that kills enemies faster. Don’t need to heal as much when regular hp is rarely affected.
Not 5.5e, but in 5e. I play a bard/fighter with Chef and Inspiring Leader. Just an absurd amount of damage mitigation. Lots of fun.
I currently play a circle of the sea druid and I really like to flavor my healing spells as the feeling of a cool wave washing over my companions 🌊
Healing Word is the most valuable healing spell for most tiers of play Magic Initiate will make you just as effective at saving players as all but the most dedicated healer builds, which is not really a playstyle supported by 5e very well That’s why I run a Homebrew Wounds system inspired by 40k, instead of Hit Points. Makes all healing more valuable as each Wound healed is more valuable than any amount of HP plus it has the potential to remove the debuffs associated with being Wounded
wizard
Bard, healing with a lot of utility, secondary with Stars Druid - healing with a variety of bonuses. Cleric hasn't been a healer since 3e. It can take on the role, but it can take on many roles.
Dreams Druid is my current favorite healer to play
Glamour Bard is kind of insane. In one turn you can mass heal AND give out a few temp HP AND those who get the temps can reposition as a reaction. The most fun support character I've ever played in 2014 5e was a Glamour Bard with a single dip in Order Cleric, so when you healed someone they got to make a reaction attack as well. Also due to some funny wording the Order Cleric's feature also worked on Silvery Barbs, so with your reaction you could force a reroll and also cause a reaction attack with advantage from one of your friends. Really cool tech and it makes the support role so much more engaging.
Healing Word is the best healing character
Regardless of which spell, I prefer bard, since I roleplay it as me doing a sick solo, and my team gaining health from good vibes alone.
Way of Mercy Monk Why use healing magic when you can punch and kick your allies back to health?
I see a lot of potential in the alchemist. Ot has a a serious resource problem but it is so close to good i can taste it. 5.5 version is TECHNICALLY better. But only technically. It gives elixirs some scaling but doesn't fix the underlying resource problem. Using the 2014 version and letting them make elixirs= spell slot spent is my preferred fix. That way it actually feels like you have 6 always prepared spells that provide a lot of versatility. If you went full into health it can at least be compared to classes like life cleric.
