Roommate thinks her comfort is more important than her roommate's cat's life

I'm looking after my cousin's cat while she is away. She left her aircon running in her room so her kitty was comfortable. Her room gets really hot without it and we're dealing with a heatwave. I get there and her room is boiling hot. I can hear the aircon running in her roommate's room. That horrible person wanted to be more comfortable so she left the cat in a room that was easily over 40°c/105°f. Thankfully the door to my cousin's room was still open. If it had swung shut somehow, the cat would not have survived. The cat's food and drink were in the room and she couldn't eat or drink because the room was that hot. The roommate wasn't even home! She took the aircon just so her room could be cool even though she wasn't there!

If this happened the way you described, I’d be furious. Leaving a cat in a room that hot while moving the AC to cool an empty room shows a shocking lack of judgment. The important thing now is that the cat is safe, but your cousin deserves to know exactly what happened so she can decide whether she can trust that roommate with her pet ever again.

  I let my cousin know, that roommate moved out today because apparently it's not the first time she took things that weren't hers

  If she had a history of taking stuff that wasn't hers, moving out was probably the cleanest ending possible. At least your cousin won't have to keep wondering what disappears next.

She took your cousins aircon out her room to put it in her room? Is it a shared aircon? If not it's theft.

  This is what Im trying to understand. She removed OPs cousins air-conditioning unit and moved it to her room? Wtf? Id take it back and get a lock for cousin's door.

I don't disagree with you, but I have a calico who loves to run out of our air conditioned house (76 degrees F) into our garage (100 degrees+ F) and staying there for hours (with water of course.)

  Lol my cat wants to stay in the balcony at 40°C for HOURS. He just meows me to come back to the house for a few minutes and wants to go out again

  I was sitting in that room for less than a minute before I had to leave. That heat cannot be comfortable for any cat

  Yup! She's just evil. She had to move out today because she stole her roommates' stuff a lot in the past, but to steal it, knowing her cat needs it....that's just so messed up

Oh, my! I would be so hard-pressed not to totally mash that person to a pulp. And she wasn't even there?! \*grrr\* That poor kitty! It's a good thing you came home when you did! I just do *not* understand how people can be so unconcerned and careless with another creature's life like that. Cruelty sucks.

My cat HATES the air conditioning and will go to the most miserably hot part of the house to sleep. My parents cats did the same. They like it a lot hotter than we do.

  Yeah, her cat doesn't though. She's only comfortable in my cousin's room and was hiding behind some furniture in a place where it was cooler when I found her. She looked so scared and confused.

  She didn't even do it to be comfortable because she wasn't home at the time! She's just plain evil.
