Depends on the person. Ive given a guitar to an interested friend and he never played it once. I think he liked the idea of being a guitar player but didnt want to put in the time to get there.
Growing up in a non-musical family, it was hard for me to get into music growing up.
So when my cousin turned 11, I felt I had an obligation to at least introduce him to guitar by giving him my old acoustic.
The thing is, all his parents have done is get him a stand. Even though he seems to have fun with it, his parents only seem to care about organizing softball or pool parties instead of getting him a teacher.
If it's genuinely something he likes to do, should I be putting effort into getting him lessons for his birthday and whatnot? Want to support the little guy but don't want to overstep.
