I have been using FSD for about a year. I live 2 miles from work and my commute is generally very light. I’ll get on the highway once or twice a week and with v12 there were some hiccups, but generally speaking it was confident enough to use for my conditions. After upgrading to v14 lite, my initial impression was this is promising, the car felt smoother and more confident in my 2 mile journey to work and back. Being able to hit the button to start right from the driveway and for it to park in spots is novel and was a welcome and awaited upgrade. Two weeks after the upgrade it was time for a road trip to the lake that we take every other week and have done on FSD for the last six months with very little problems. It’s honestly been a joy. This time we did not have that experience, whoever designed the speed profiles is a lunatic. Sloth and chill go below the speed limit on the highway,standard seems to go about 4 to 5 miles over and hurry won’t go more than 10 miles over the speed limit, even to keep up with the flow of traffic. I just feel like I’m in everybody’s way letting the car mosey along. Even if you try to give it some acceleration, the car hesitates and jerks like it’s refusing to go any faster. Then comes the terrifying break stabbing. In our 200 mile journey it slammed on the brakes three or four times while it was limping along at 68 in a 70 and cars are already riding my bumper. At our halfway point, where we stopped to charge I switched to autosteer and with the ability to define speed controls (and navigate on auto steer beta which I have no idea about any need to look into) it may be time to cancel FSD until they work all of this out. I’m still a huge fan and not knocking on them, but it’s just unpractical and really unsafe to use in its current state.

There was break stabbing in earlier versions of v14 on hw4. I’m sure the next update will fix it.
Yeah, but how long before we see that update. v14lite has basically made it so no one in the car wants me to use it in the highway. They say how it startles them when it happens and sometimes starts to make them car sick. It feels like being in the car with a driver that doesn’t understand how to smoothly move their foot in the accelerator. Everyone knows someone who drives like that. In an ICE car, you can see the RPM rev up and down every time they push hard and then release. This feels EXACTLY like that. What bothers me most is that Tesla let this be released like this. I also agree with a previous comment that this is all about stretching it out as long as possible to reduce the number of liable cars on the road.
The break stabbing, and now on my 21 M3 the acceleration stabbing, broke me. I would use FSD 100% except for parking. I sometimes drive for Lyft and it was a breeze with FSD. Yesterday I CANCELLED FSD. I’m not going to pay for something that is now so bad it’s actually dangerous. I’ll probably resubscribe when a fix comes out. But cancelling speaks loudest. If Elon wants to hit his goals, he’ll have to do better!
I drive 60 miles on the highway everyday and use fsd almost the whole way every time. Never had it just brake randomly personally once. Just giving my experience as someone that uses it everyday.
Are you on HW3 or HW4?
The brake stabbing and phantom braking have been my breaking point with V14 Lite. I’m kinda like you OP I have a very light commute since my work and all the places I generally go to are all within a couple miles of my house, prior to this using V12 was perfectly fine and I had went on many multi state trips with it active pretty much the entire time both highway and small towns with little to no complaints but now the car freaks out at every little shadow some days and some days it’s completely fine and doesn’t do it at all. The driveway ability is great and I love that part along with also the ability for the car to actually pull in and out of my works security gate but that’s where my praises have sadly stopped.
V14L is just so timid. It feels like a driver with a learner's permit.
Yep, but I’m afraid to leave that feedback after all the publicity about the guy who crashed into that lady’s living room having searched about FSD not being aggressive enough.
V14 lite is a dangerous scam to avoid/delay the inevitable lawsuit from HW3 FSD owners. They’re purposefully dragging this out to get as many HW3 cars off the road to minimize their exposure. It’s gone from a scam to active endangerment with v14 Lite. Guess it’s to be expected from a company run by a man with the morals of Elon Musk.

And then Elon will do it all over again with HW4 when HW5 is introduced. The high tech hustle is endless when there are so many believers.
Just to be clear, NoA (nav on autopilot) is an FSD feature you will lose by not subscribing.
It’s under the auto steer category. My car is a 2023 which still came with auto pilot, is it still tied to FSD? I didn’t even know it was an option until I switched off FSD and turned on auto steer.
If they let me define my speed preferences then I wouldn’t have to maniacally watch for it choosing to go 5 under or 15 over and then what would I do, relax? They’re giving us something to do, see.
