I feel trapped on this miserable Island and I want out.
I’m 20M studying computer science and the job market is absolutely bleak here something like 1 million young people are unemployed. Brexit has essentially ruined our lives we are now all stuck in this country that lacks enough resources to be on its own. someone like me a decade ago would’ve just packed up and moved now this freedom has been taken away from me and I’m stuck fending in a broken racist society with very few opportunities and absolutely nothing to look forward to. Fuck this country

I feel you. Sending you love as we all fantasize what could’ve been if we stayed in the EU.. it’s horrible.
For that same reason, Brexit, I hate that this freedom to live and work in Europe easily was stolen from us. However, really look into other countries and they are all saying the same thing. Australians want to leave because the job market has tanked. Americans want to leave the US because Europe looks so free (and the job market is taking) etc etc My point is, rather than simply run away into the same problem, or even harder ones, look at yourself, look at how you can be the exist someone wants to hire, rather than just another generic programmer. I hire people from around the world for my company. I have the choice globally and my last hire was in NZ, previous to that was the US. The UK has great talent, but so does everywhere else.
What 'work' would you do in Europe? I have 15+ years experience in international sales. I've closed hundreds of deals on five continents. We do almost zero business on continental Europe, despite the fact I live in Portugal. It's a dreadful, appalling market: rife with language barriers, regulatory problems. Young people who move here end up with the most appalling, underpaid careers. Australia, America, NZ and Canada are vastly more practical places to build a career.
Hate to break it to you, but young folks are getting screwed over and racism is on the rise everywhere. And even though you don't have the same freedom of movement you did before brexit, you can still move on a study or work visa.
Working holiday visas to Aus and Canada might be a good idea to explore.
Without doubt the best option.
Imagine what it’s like for those of us that could have left but fucked around and chose not to. At least you don’t have to live with the endless regret every day. If you’re young and single, maybe find yourself someone genuinely who has EU status? I refused to date anyone without it and am now with a lovely Czech am trying to convince her to take me back with her.

Nowhere in Europe has a better job market than the UK, especially now that Germany's hit the rocks. That's because the whole of Europe has failed to produce successful new companies, as shown in this brutal, famous table. I live in Portugal — the job market here is vastly worse than the UK's.
Our lives our good for one reason: American clients.
American salaries are vastly higher than European. Do anything you can to work with an American company.
Pro tip: Americans like to optimistic, positive and ambitious people.
Once you leave the UK (and especially Europe) you'll start to realise that the real reason Europe is poor is because of a nasty, negative, cynical attitude towards entrepreneurs and risk-takers.
Finally someone offering perspective.
C'est la vie, but you've got options. There's some privilege, when you take off the doom-and-gloom glasses. \- Access to Ireland \- British overseas territories \- Working holiday visa in a lot of countries \- With a UK passport, becoming an au pair would probably be pretty easy (parents wanting their children to learn British English from a native speaker) \- A UK passport means much easier access to student visas, since you'll be considered highly unlikely to apply for asylum or overstaying illegally. Compare that to someone from Iraq or Afghanistan, that would likely face auto-rejection in a lot of countries.
Do the TESOL course and get over to South East Asia. If I wasn’t settled in a well paid job and partnered I’d be doing the same.
Ireland?
Move to ROI and naturalize, get the EU passport.
