1000xResist. Don't read about it, just play it.
Can you link to what game you're referring to?
Thanks for the recommendation. Gonna try it soon. Seems like my type of game!!
Last month I played Mass Effect for the first time, and I still can't pick up any other games because it just doesnt hit the same spot. The companion system in the second game, from the recruitment all the way to the suicide mission at the end was just perfect.
I tried Dragon Age in the meantime (origins, 2 and inquisition) but its just not my cup of tea. The gameplay was just not it for me. I like a third person entry where I can just immerse myself in the world.
Does anyone have any suggestions about games that give the same feeling that Mass Effect gave? A game where you really build up relations with well written characters, a good story and a deep world.

Alpha Protocol
Seems nice, gonna take a look at it! Thanks
Did you play ME3, the final in the trilogy? It pretty much just continues the story, feels pretty similar. Mass Effect is one of the greatest game series of all time, it’s hard to beat. Cyberpunk 2077 gave me a similar feeling in terms of immersion and story.
I played through the legendary edition, so I got the whole package. Cyberpunk is also amazing. I have already finishes it twice 😅
Mass Effect 3
ME Andromeda is probably your closest. Its kinda hollow though. Or starfield
I bought ME andromeda but didnt have the heart to get back in the universe without the og crew. Gonna take a look somewhere in the future tho. Starfield is also in my library, so I guess its gonna be played sometime, or maybe it stays backlog forever 😅
I played all the Mass Effect games when they first came out, and I absolutely feel you. I have been kind of chasing that high ever since.
Dragon Age: Inquisition came close to me, but as you said, that wasn't your cup of tea.
It's been a shame to see BioWare go the way it has, because I definitely used to say they were absolutely the best in the business when it came to this kind of game.
Baldur's Gate 3 does a lot of this kind of stuff with your companions/friends, but based on what you said about DA, I'm not sure you'd like the gameplay. It's an isometric view with turn-based RPG combat. The companion stuff is pretty great, though.
You might get some success with some of the Fallout games. In those, it's third person exploration like you are talking about, and you build relationships (even romantic ones) with your companions, and they get personal quests for you to go on, too. If you decide to go that route, I would suggest Fallout 4 or Fallout New Vegas. NV has some age on it and is a little jank, but it's a solid game.
It's not out yet, but I'd heavily suggest you keep your eye on Exodus. It's supposed to come out in 2027, and the studio was founded and is led by some of the former BioWare devs from Mass Effect 1 and 2. You might want to check out this trailer in the meantime: Exodus Gameplay Trailer
Thanks for your reply! Baldurs gate is on my list of games to try in the near future. The big problem I had with dragon age was the gameplay. The story seemed very interesting, but I just couldnt get past the combat. Turn based games, like Baldurs Gate, are somewhat more of my preference. I really loved games like persona and the newer digimon that launched last year. Exodus has been on the top of my wishlist since I played ME, really looking forward to that one. Again, really appreciate your time. Have a good one!
Baldur's Gate 3 for a CRPG with an insane amount of choices matter. It is however, not third person, but isometric and turn-based. My Time at Sandrock for a cozy lifesim RPG with the best writing of its genre. I still have that post-game depression ruining every other game you are experiencing, but for over a couple years now because of this title.
Thanks for your reply. Didnt know My Time at Sandrock but looks like a game I would enjoy playing. Gonna check it out!!
