Is this for snowboarders? I’m not sure I can apply these techniques to any of the times I’ve fallen on skis… The key technique I’ve learned is tuck and roll rather than reach for the ground.
It's for falling. Any sport, any time. There is a technique for every direction. A big backslap off a cliff, your skis sliding out from under you on ice, catching a root, etc. The front roll breakfall is definitely important as well. This video is just a good starting point to communicate the idea that falling is a skill that can be trained and that Judo has mastered it.
Amen falling forward always better the falling backwards. Never fight it.
