I’ve earned over 120k for the last 2 years as a single bloke with no kids. Although I’m not exactly living week to week, it still doesn’t feel like much to me. I certainly don’t see how an entire family could live on that. Yet back in the early 2000’s when I was just getting into the workforce, that would’ve been ridiculously good money for a low skilled factory worker.

For me I lived in Dublin, London, Amsterdam and Melbourne - Melbourne was the cheapest by far. It was not even close. I had a much cheaper life and also lived very close to the city in some cool neighbourhoods within walking distance north of the CBD.
We found we didn't get to really enjoy Sydney until our household income hit 300k, a couple with no kids. We are not living a luxury life but it's comfortable.
Too much. Don’t recommend
It’s decently expensive. Living in a suburb close to the city can be a bit cheaper. Public transport is pretty good in making that work as well
