so I went to my gym pool due to the fact public pool was close today and when I swam in it burn my throat so badly and I never had a issue with a pool burning my throat, and I am not a mouth breather when swimming is this normal?
No of course not, but are you sure it's not just you getting sick.
Some other girl I saw at the pool was wearing a scuba googles and mouth tape so I am assuming it also was burning her mouth and before the remodel some people would say it was really dirty and filthy this was before covid so I’m not sure if it still is
YUP!! I just went into yelp and check the pool and sauna reviews guess what roaches in sauna room and people have said they gotten RINGWORM from the pool
Was it a salt water pool? When I took a water aerobics class in a salt water pool I got a little in my mouth and I would call it an irritant. It didn’t burn my throat badly. Chlorine never bothers me. Just irritated my eyes when I was a kid and we swam without goggles.

And yeah Metoo it never bother me just my eyes which that normal like I have swam in pools for 3+ hours and never had an issue with my mouth burning. Maybe at most the chlorine taste it at the back of my throat and won’t go but never burning
Chlorine and it's biproduct trichloramine are likely too high. They are proven to leave long term/permanent changes to the respitory system of retired competitive swimmers.
That crazy considering swimming can be really good for ur stamina but I am not surprise

I was worried I might have given myself chlorine poisoning just due to when I search up why my mouth was burning all I got was “POISON!” my mom said they might have just recently change the pool so I am prob going to go tomorrow unless I get sick from that pool and see if it still bad
not normal. were the insides of your cheeks also super dry? i’ve had the throat and cheek burning thing happen to me about 10 times at swim practice as a kid when the chlorine levels were off the charts. 2 of the times we were begging to stop because of it & a girl went to the ER after & a little bit of her lung tissue was dead 😳 (she was all good eventually & continued to kick butt)
Yes and my face was burning and it was so bad I couldn’t practice which sucks very nice pool people and people who knew MOVE when ur swimming
Sounds like a very chlorinated dirty pool with insufficient ventilation. Chlorine in the water usually is not a very bad irritant, unless there’s a lot of it. However, once it does its job, some disinfection byproducts go airborne and are quite unhealthy. This is a problem in especially ”basement pools.”
