I did decide to speak the local language with everyone, including friends and roommates, when I studied abroad.... because I'm American and I studied abroad in London. 😆
I am very interested in language learning, and I would like to study abroad with a friend of mine. I know that many students who study abroad keep speaking their native language with their compatriots, and that's the easiest thing to do. But I know that lots of people also decide to stop speaking their native language and to have a full immersion in the local language by speaking that language even with their compatriots.
So I would like to ask those who decided to do this:
P.s. sorry if there are any mistakes in my English

same as you, we spoke the local language with each other even though we were both from the same country.
That's interesting What's your native language (if I may ask)? Where did you study abroad?
Many bilingual people go back and forth between languages even within one sentence. It's just comfortable and some conversations are easier in certain languages in my experience.
Outside of a group setting, I've never seen this happen.
yeah definitely worth it fr, just watch some shows with subtitles if it gets too frustrating
What is your experience (if I may ask)?
