The first week off was not great...i was in such bad mood all the time, and everything just seemed so bland and pointless, but the last few days i've noticed things clearly getting better. I'm calmer, happier, less angry, more productive with work, have more energy in the mornings, and I need less coffee.
42M, I was a daily smoker (Flower, not huge amounts, but recently starting most days around lunchtime). I have stopped before, but then fallen back into it, but this time it feels different.
I didn't think of myself as an addict before, but have accepted thats what i am, and that reframing has helped me.....i would love to smoke a bit of weed every now and then, but experience tells me that i'm not able to do that, and i have to choose between smoking every day, and being off it completely, and given thats the choice, my choice is clear.
The only lingering sadness is that I have wasted so much time being stoned - lost in thoughts that lead nowhere, a false sense of comfort, and less connection and presence with my wife and kids. Boredom and discomfort are supposed to lead you somewhere better, not just covered up in a haze.
Someone here recommended the MA Speaker Tapes on Spotify/ Podcasts, and they were really useful to me in the first few days. so check them out if you're struggling.
well, it's only day 11, but I'm excited about what the future holds for a sober me.
Good luck to everyone.
