I feel you.
Not really sure where else to put this, just needed to type it out somewhere.
I'm in my final year of college and lately it feels like I'm watching everyone else's life click into place while mine just... doesn't. People in my batch are landing these solid placements, good packages, LinkedIn posts about joining companies I've literally never even gotten a callback from. And I sit there scrolling through it at like midnight thinking, what am I doing wrong, genuinely, because it's not like I haven't been trying.
I've been teaching myself stuff on the side, building things, applying wherever I can, trying to find a way into work that actually feels like mine instead of just whatever's left over. But every path I try seems to close somewhere down the line. Not even loud rejections most of the time, just silence. An application that sits there and never turns into anything. And meanwhile the countdown to graduation keeps going regardless of whether I've figured anything out, which is honestly the scariest part — it's not waiting for me to catch up.
I don't think I'm less capable than the people getting those offers. That's what makes it worse somehow, like I can feel that I'm not lacking in ability, just in whatever timing or luck or door-opening thing everyone else seems to have found. I go back and forth between telling myself it'll click eventually if I keep going, and this heavier feeling that maybe there's something obvious I'm just not seeing.
I don't really want advice as much as I just needed to get this off my chest instead of carrying it around and pretending I'm fine when people ask how the job search is going. If anyone else felt like this right before finishing school, watching everyone else move ahead while you're still trying to find your footing — I'd genuinely like to hear how you got through it.
I feel you.
