Congrats! You won! 😄 But, yeah, in all seriousness it's random and it happens. It's usually not an indication of anything other than the fact that you were randomly selected.
I flew out of Boston Logan airport this morning and waited in the TSA Precheck line. Once I got to the agent she took my ID and boarding pass said I had Precheck but I was randomly selected to get standard screening. I had to get out of line and wait in the standard screening line, give the agent my boarding pass/ID, etc and go thru security that way. This has never happened to me before and I’ve never heard of this happening to anyone else. Is this a normal thing that can happen or was I just unlucky?

2 Things: The program itself says TSA Precheck is not guaranteed and you may not get it on your pass or be sent for additional screening at any time. I've had issues in Boston not accepting my out of state ID for some reason. Some states the "more advanced" ID scanners just do not like. So I got a passport card and use that in Boston now.
Yeah I’ve been using my passport recently. I’ve just never seen them moving people to standard screening after the id has been checked. Thanks!
usually about once a year I get it. usually it just means going through a body scanner but its happened twice now at smaller airports where I just won't get it on my ticket and have to go through reg security. id be a little ticked if they made me switch lines though after already waiting in line, that's kinda odd.
